Birding Blog 11-11-2017 (Margalla)

On Saturday I decided to visit Margalla Hills alone. On my way to my birding spot I stopped my car and saw some moments and suddenly a Grey Francolin appeared and started forging in front of me. On my birding spot I saw some regular birds that I used to see on my weekly trip and a new Brownish-Flanked Bush Warbler a lifer for me. After some time of birding I decided to visit stream to see some water birds there.

The  blue-tailed bee-eater  ( Merops philippinus ) is a near passerine bird in the bee-eater family Meropidae. It breeds in southeastern Asia. It is strongly migratory, seen seasonally in much of peninsular India. This species is sometimes considered to be conspecific with the blue-cheeked bee-eater. This species, like other bee-eaters, is a richly coloured, slender bird. It is predominantly green; its face has a narrow blue patch with a black eye stripe, and a yellow and brown throat; the tail is blue and the beak is black. It can reach a length of 23–26 cm, including the two elongated central tail feathers. Sexes are alike. This is a bird which breeds in sub-tropical open country, such as farmland, parks or ricefields. Birding in Indus River, D.I.Khan (7-10-2017)

After short stay at Namal Lake we started our journey towards D.I.Khan. On my way towards D.I.Khan we crossed chashma barrage and I was very eager to do birding there but they did not allow us to do Photography, But at chashma  barrage I was very happy to see a large number of migratory birds and hoped to find some new birds at my destination. Chashma Barrage - D.I.Khan On my way towards D.I.Khan I also saw the Kafer kot (7th century CE) heritage site. Kafir Kot consists of the ruins of 5 temples, and the ruins of a large fort protecting the site. According to the district Gazetteer of Mianwali of 1915 the remains of Kafirkot (and the nearby ruin of Mari) "are indication of the existence of a Hindu civilization of considerable importance and antiquity".
